Have you ever had anyone call you a “mover and a shaker” or a “doer” instead of a “spectator”? You better answer yes, because I just called you a “Doer”.
A “doer” has self-confidence. They don’t wait for someone else to give them permission before taking charge of their lives. They know what they want and they go after it. And, they don’t stop until they reach their destination. They look at setbacks or mistakes as learning opportunities and not as failures. They have incredible character.
I know that didn’t describe me when I weighed 394 pounds. I was afraid to do anything and wanted to stay out-of-the-way from those confident people. I felt like a shadow of a person, pretty much just invisible. It took a while for me to gain some of my confidence back. I remember having lost around 80 pounds and I still felt the same way I did at 394.
After years of beating ourselves up and feeling like, well, poop , it takes work to gather up our mental strength again. But, you know what? You can do it. I absolutely have no doubt that you have what it takes to reach your destination. And, you are going to love who you become in the process.
This doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s not always easy. But, you took one giant step forward by making the decision to have bariatric surgery. That was you, my “doer” friend. You are the one who jumped through all the hoops and followed through with your surgery. Don’t let anyone take that from you.
Don’t let the nay-sayers or people with bad attitudes put you down. I can pretty much say that you are better than they are. You would not put someone down. Except, of course, for yourself. Yep, that’s pretty much how we operate. But, you don’t have to be like that anymore.
Stand up for yourself and be proud of who you are. I’m proud of you. I know what you have gone through and may still be going through. There will always be things that challenge us, but stay strong and stand tall. Remember you are a “doer”.
You totally got this. Believe in yourself as much as I believe in you. Because you and I are a lot alike and if I could do it, so can you. Now go kick some butt, and let me know about your victories!
